Please help the Tompkins County SPCA raise money for a new animal ambulance. I made my donation today; I hope you can, too. If not, please pass this information on to your network.
I received this urgent alert today from the SPCA of Tompkins County:
During today's winter storm, one in a series during a difficult season, an SPCA employee was called out to save a badly injured cat.
Regardless of the severe weather, the SPCA made it out to Jacksonville to help the poor kitty who had been hit by a car. On the way back to the shelter in driving snow and poor conditions, the "animal ambulance" slid off the road into a guard rail, damaging the vehicle. The SPCA officer and cat both made it back to the shelter, but the vehicle cannot be repaired for several days.
Our community is unflinchingly generous and we operate successfully entirely due to your full support and generosity. We have some insurance, but the immediate urgent need for a new, safe, weather-appropriate animal ambulance is crucial to our ability to save animals in desperate need regardless of the weather conditions. We have been struggling with two older model vehicles for several years, and it is clearly time to upgrade.
A new animal ambulance will cost $25,000 and we need your extra help more than ever. Please help us with any size gift for a new animal ambulance today, and know that if it is your pet in need on the roads, we will be able to respond quickly and safely.
To make a gift for the Animal Ambulance Fund, please click here. Or, mail your gift to the shelter at 1640 Hanshaw Road, Ithaca, NY, 14850 with a memo that it is for the Animal Ambulance. Thank you, and be safe.
