Dune

Dune by Frank Herbert

I just reread Dune, which I enjoyed (again) but was more disturbed by the gender relations than when I first read the novel in high school. Now, I'm rereading Dune Messiah, but I no longer have my copy, so downloaded it on my Kindle. This edition of Dune was printed originally in 1984 and retailed for $3.95.

Equal Pay Day

"Today is Equal Pay Day, the day in the year marking how long into 2012 women must work to earn the same amount that men earned in 2011. Currently, women make just 77 cents on the dollar a man makes. This is unacceptable and with more and more women contributing to household incomes, the lack of equal pay for women hurts all middle class working families--men and children included. We must work to close the wage gap and unleash the full economic potential of women," - Kirsten Gillibrand

Norman Watches the Deer

Norman is very interested in the deer in our backyard. The deer were pretty oblivious to Norman and Walter!
