In yet another case of WTF, lawmakers in the Iowa House have passed a bill that would make it a felony to distribute video documenting animal abuse on factory farms. Yes, these elected public representatives are more concerned with protecting the businesses that abuse animals than making the abuse itself a felony. My myriad responses to this unfair and ridiculous legislation come down to this: they should be ashamed. I believe everyone, Democrats included, who voted for this bill should have to watch what goes on in these murder factories in person. But I digress.
If you live in Iowa, please contact your state lawmakers to express your opposition to the bill. Everyone should visit Mercy for Animals to sign the statement against the legislation.
Sparkles is a beautiful, blogging kitty who is very sad (as am I) about the horrors experienced by the people and animals of Japan. Her human is donating a dollar to World Vets for every comment made on her blog today. Please go visit and say hello - what a fun and easy way for us to help those animals in Japan who have been affected by the earthquake and tsunami. You can also visit a ton of other blogs who are helping Japan's animals today through the links at the bottom of the entry.
I participated in a Swap-Bot pi day card/postcard swap. I send the top left card, which I purchased on zazzle. I received the rainbow pi and pi-rate cards from my partners in the swap. More about pi day can be found on the pi day site.
