Oklahoma is OK

Oklahomans are modest amazing, best, or wonderful for us. Instead, it's "Oklahoma: OK!"

Despite having lived outside of Oklahoma since 2003, I am an Oklahoman, and I imagine I will always be an Oklahoman. The universe likes to remind me of this by ensuring I see a car or truck with an Oklahoma license tag every day without fail and by peppering my path with those who like to snicker when I say "y'all" (which I ignore since I maintain it is a proper and economical way to address a group of people).

An "A"

Now, getting an "A" has nothing to do with a grade--it means that I get a publication in a top tier management journal. A's are essential for doctoral students on the job market and play a significant role in tenure decisions. (Some schools require approximately an A a year.)

My article with Peter and Loriann was accepted by the Journal of Applied Psychology, an A journal, last year, but it just came out, and to top it off, it's the first article in the first issue of Volume 93. I'm so excited!

In other news, one of my students told me today, "You are a lefty!" What a compliment!

Barack Obama

Driving home last night, I listened to the NPR Super Tuesday election coverage. I found myself caring much more about who gets the democratic nomination than I's not like I'm not going to vote Democratic even if my choice, Obama, isn't the nominee.

I've been an Obama fan since I remember knowing about him. I visited Anna around the time of his Senate election, and I was pleased to see so many Barack Obama lawn signs as we drove around town. I was envious of Anna that she got to vote for him! : ) I've followed him with enthusiasm since and enjoyed hearing him at a rally on campus in 2005.

While hearing the returns last night, I got that nervous feeling in my gut when they were about to announce winners of various states. I'm just relieved that the Democrats have if any far fewer winner take all states than the Republicans.

I have now been through Reiki I and II and can give Reiki treatments. What is Reiki? See the International Center for Reiki Training website. Besides the fact that it is very cool, I am hoping it will help 1) relieve my stress and 2) help Harvey with his myriad issues. Though it is hard to imagine such a cute and seemingly happy dog has so many issues, Harvey is a very nervous pup!
