Listen

"We see the world not as it is, but as we are." ~Anaïs Nin

I found a page of paper with unlabeled notes - was I summarizing a reading? A lecture? A sermon? I'm not sure, but I am intrigued.

Listen so you can:
  • solve problems
  • sound more intelligent
  • appear to be more caring
  • be in a better position to negotiate
  • benefit from others' experience.
Of course, this does make the act of listening seem a bit manipulative if not Machiavellian!

I Am Enough

A great story, "Want to be happy? Stop trying to be perfect" on cnn.com. (Thanks to Courtney for posting the link on FB!)
Courage is about putting our vulnerability on the line. If we want to live and love with our whole hearts and engage in the world from a place of worthiness, our first step is practicing the courage it takes to own our stories and tell the truth about who we are. It doesn't get braver than that.

Busy Busy

George said that either the squirrels or the chipmunks were responsible for this... I guess they didn't like the squash much since they left one untouched!

UU Meditation

A responsive reading from today's service:
Within us all is the soul of the whole.
When it breaks through our intellect, it is genius;
When it breathes through our will, it is virtue;
When it flows through our affections, it is love.
