A Canadian outdoor adventure company has been accused of killing 100 huskies--some by gunshot some by knife--when an anticipated tourist uptick after the 2010 Winter Olympics did not materialize. I cannot imagine the extent of the pain these animals endured. Situations like these are among the many reasons why I believe animals should not be used as commodities, to be disposed of at the whims of a changing market.
