Zentangle Postcard

Zentangle Postcard

I made this for a swap-bot swap. Because this was to be sent "naked" through the mail, the swap coordinator suggested we use sharpies instead of the micron art pens usually used when making zentangles. I did so, thinking it wouldn't make much of a difference, but I was surprised at how much more precise and in control I felt when using the micron pen as compared to the sharpie.

I Am Illegal

I Am Illegal Graffiti

The daughter of one of my Arizona friends made "I could be illegal stickers" and several people I know have joined similarly themed groups on Facebook. I concur with the sentiments and believe there should be easier paths to legal residency and citizenship, and that most of the policing should be done at the level of businesses.

That said, the Native American in me says to everyone: You are *all* illegal! I mourn what was lost - the peaceful and harmonious relationship humans had with nature and the knowledge of the interdependent web of existence.
The old Lakota was wise. He knew that man's heart away from nature becomes hard; he knew that lack of respect for growing, living things soon led to lack of respect for humans too. ~Chief Luther Standing Bear

What is it you plan to do?

Opening the sermon yesterday, Reverend Grimm first read "This Summer Day" by Mary Oliver, which is available at the Library of Congress's Poetry 180 website. I encourage you to read it, too.

Mary Oliver is not a Unitarian, but as the Best of UU blog explains, her poetry is quite so.
